Research Funding Announcement

AlterMed is pleased to announce we have awarded a grant to Dr. Melissa Rosenkranz out of Richard Davidson, PhD's lab to support Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction research with asthma patients in July of 2011.

In December of 2011, we have opened doors at the University of Colorado to enable CAM for human cancer research for their Cancer Research Summer Fellowship program and for their Mentored Scholarly Activity. We are proud to announce a sophomore student from Notre Dame has been accepted to conduct  the Cancer Research 2012 Summer Fellowship funded by AlterMed Research Foundation.  The Mentored Scholarly Activity is accepting applicants for the AlterMed Funded 2012 Summer Fellowship.

Research Funding Process
  • AlterMed funds qualified researchers at universities and hospitals to do rigorous integrative medicine research in the areas of our donors' interest plus AlterMed's focused areas adding quality management to meet conventional reseach standard.
  • Application and funding approval cycle - see current announcement above. 
  • Research proposals are reviewed by AlterMed board and/or advisors which are experts in the field of research interest. 

Funded Research Characteristics

  • Research to meet highest regulatory & scientific standard using statistically significant double-blind, randomized controlled methods whenever possible.
  • Research progress will be regularly monitored and reported by researchers.
  • Research is repeatable.
  • Results will be peer reviewed and published in prestigious medical journals by the researchers whenever possible.
